Loner on Social Media

overlooked tree

So, despite being fairly well-travelled with some wonderful friends and an easy coffee shop smile, I”ve always been somewhat of a loner.

Defended, perhaps. An outsider, often. Private, definitely. At the end of the day though, a natural preference.

So what does a loner do in this age of social media: in this age of unrelenting digital posting, sharing and conversation?

I would be lying to say I had any answers here.

I am guessing it has something to do with holding the paradox of being willing to expand one’s comfort zone WHILE honoring one’s unique proclivities.

Resist the temptation to compare.

Especially, condemn none of it. Not the maven nor the craven nor the indifferent ones.

It’s 2012 and these are the times. And there really is nothing to catch up to, because by the second you’ve finished this sentence the rules have already changed.

So enjoy the experiment.  And let’s appreciate all of our rhythms, approaches and styles of participation. Whatever our inclinations may be.
